New numbers and New heights for the Royal Yacht Britannia
The Royal Deck on board The Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh, is now available for spectacular corporate entertaining. Glittering receptions and dinners are already held in the State Dining Room and Drawing Room on board. The Royal Deck, one of the highest decks, brings Britannia’s total dining capacity up to 176 and receptions up to 380, when used with the Drawing Room and Dining Room.

Traditionally, the Royal Deck would be covered with an awning and used by the Royal Family for cocktail parties and receptions. The historic appearance of the Royal Deck has been re-created with a spectacular awning-style roof, seamless glass walls and teak deck. The interior mixes the traditional with the contemporary and reflects the décor of the State Apartments, with certain distinctive features recreated from these rooms. With the additional bonus of breathtaking views over the Firth of Forth, it is a welcome addition to Britannia’s unique corporate portfolio.

The first drinks reception to be held in the Royal Deck was in January. Following months of eagerly awaiting completion of the restoration work, the event surpassed even the highest expectations. The evening was a truly magical experience where the champagne flowed and Britannia’s butlers served a delicious selection of Executive Chef, Michael Soeder’s, innovative canapés.

Guests were greeted by striking flambeaux and a Scottish piper as they walked the red carpet and up the Royal Brow. Escorted to the Royal Deck up stairs candle-lit with lanterns, guests were met with the sight of a stunning diamond-shaped ice carving and greeted by our butlers serving champagne. Mixologists entertained guests at the bar with their skills and specialist cocktails whilst a fun casino gave guests the opportunity to play without parting with their money. A solo guitarist was gradually joined by other musicians to build a crescendo of entertainment to the Britannia big band, who were joined by professional dancers and guests who were keen to test out the dance floor.

Head of Corporate Events, Sonia Lee said:
“We are delighted to extend our offering with larger dinners and receptions. This stunning room provides further flexible options, making an evening truly the event of a lifetime.”
