The original Bond girl's special appearance on Britannia.....
The original Bond girl, Ursula Andress, made a special appearance on board Britannia last week. The star was a guest at the launch of the Edinburgh Swiss Consulate, a celebration which also marked her belated 70th birthday. Ms. Andress arrived in the original James Bond Aston Martin DB5, once driven by Scottish star Sean Connery in the films Goldfinger and Thunderball. Stepping from the car, Andress quipped “Thank you, James” in reference to her 007 past.
Guests arrived along Britannia’s red carpet and boarded the yacht using the Royal Bow, a privileged previously reserved for members of the Royal Family. Celebrations began in the State Drawing Room where guests enjoyed champagne and James Bond theme tunes from Britannia’s baby grand piano, once played by Noel Coward. The State Drawing Room is furnished to the personal taste of Her Majesty, The Queen and was where the Royal Family entertained, relaxed and played games.
The 90 guests were then welcomed through to the State Dining Room, where world leaders have dined including Sir Winston Churchill, Rajiv Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Ronald Reagan. The sumptuous menu included Scottish lobster and salmon, culminating with a delicious vanilla crème brulee which contained secret chocolate truffle. All food is freshly made on board by Executive Chef Michael Soeder and his team, using only the finest seasonal ingredients. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of Ms. Andress’s birthday cake specially created by top Swiss chef, Anton Mosimann.
Head of events, Angela Stewart stated:
“We were delighted to host such a high profile event on behalf of the Swiss Embassy. This further proves there are few events to which Britannia would not be perfectly suited.”

Notes for Editors:
